This place is amazing! All ingredients are fresh and the service is great. Don't think of it as a restaurant - it's more of a deli/market (as the name indicates) - but they have a couple tables to eat inside. I love the great selection of craft and micro brews, and they even have a good assortment of wine at various price ranges and styles.

Friendly service. Great sandwiches. AND they have wine tastings... = Great local spot!!

Adorable! I'm visiting my family from NYC and, although I do enjoy a Publix, I hate that I can never get all the specialty stuff that NY markets have to offer. Like, say, crunchy baked green beans. Dot ask my why, but sometimes a crunch green bean is enjoyable in a sea of lays. Anyhow, this little treasure of a deli has all that and some pretty tasty prepared food too! We had the Cuban and balsamic vinegar sandwiches along with broccoli and asparagus salad. All quite fresh and tasty! They also have a cute wine selection, nothing life altering, but a good alternative to the grocery store choices. And the staff was very helpful in guiding me on their favs, respectively. All and all, a lovely experience. I shall return.

What else can you ask for??? Good deli, good food, good selection of beers and good service. This is heaven for a working family without time for the kitchen and don't want to eat fast food all week. Each day the chef prepares a different kind a plate and several options in the side. These people cook with passion and love the kitchen, using fresh ingredients. All the times I have visited this place the order is to go, re-heated at home and had an excellent meal after a day of work. Last time I had the lasagna and the lemon chicken, both were excellent. The lasagna had a very well balance between the meat and the cheese. The lemon chicken wasn't dry and the lemon flavor wasn't overwhelming. Definitely will keep going...

Strange place to find such interesting and fresh food. With menu items such as Buffalo cauliflower, homemade crab cakes, and Kale Ceasar salad, this is one of my go-to spots for lunch. They also serve an array of sandwiches and side items to fit most anyone's taste. While I have not been there for dinner, they always have an appetizing special running.

Much different then I expected from the outside, food was good. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich to go. Not somewhere to destination to, but good for a quick bite eat, to and from Tampa. Sparse on options but has good quality picks, chips and dip type items you can find in a boutique grocery store. Overall pretty good.

Visited twice for lunch at the end of February while working in St. Pete. They have quite a selection of wraps, sandwiches and panninis. They also make different sides daily. First lunch I had the chicken pesto - fresh bread, pesto loaded with basil the way I like it and the chicken itself was juicy and well-seasoned. Second lunch was a turkey panini and it was good. The guy behind the counter even was nice enough to go digging in the cooler to locate me the last Dr. Pepper in the place as their delivery guy was 3 days late. That's my kind of customer service. See you soon on my next trip to St. Pete.

Delicious lunch. Pressed Cuban sandwich was good and wifey liked the chicken salad wrap. She said it had just the right amount of mayo. Great deli and the side dishes look fantastic!

I knew as soon as I walked in at the food was going to be delicious! I was right! Very friendly cashier took my order, in quickly brought us our sandwiches. To place to sit inside and outside. You could also grab some groceries on your way. Will definitely be back!

JJ's has a neat setup to have a sit down meal or get a quick to go order which makes me a regular. The staff is friendly and always willing to help you choose. They have fantastic dinner specials that change daily. Everything is made fresh in house and you can taste the freshness. I got the chicken pesto pressed sandwich and a side of the chicken n rice creole soup. The chicken was moist and the pesto sauce was incredibly flavorful while the soup satisfied my spice cravings.

My cousins live in the apartment complex right next to JJ's, so this place is super convenient for picking up a sandwich or even just a few snacks. It's a pretty open deli, with a variety of drinks, chips, and snacks available in the middle to the back of the place. The menu hangs above the deli counter up front, which stores all of their side dishes such as tortellini salad, caprese salad, greek salad, and even full slices of lasagna. I ended up with the #1, the Chicken Pesto sandwich that was served on ciabatta bread AND pressed to give it a nice toasty edge. It also had lettuce, tomato, and fresh mozzarella to compliment the taste of the chicken. Every ingredient tasted incredibly fresh and delicious. I'm a fan, I'm sure I'll be back here again while I'm in the area. Oh yeah, did I mention they sold pretty solid craft beer as well? Totally sold.

Super happy this place is walking distance from home. Went in here to grab a quick lunch before running errands the other day. When we first walked in, it smelled like a Greek market; but that was just the aromas in the kitchen. Cute deli with a few aisle of grocery items, a beer cave & build your own six pack option. We came for lunch, so we decided to each get a different sandwich and trade half and shared a bowl of the turkey chili. I ordered the chicken pesto panini and my fiancé ordered the roast beef. The roast beef...YUUUUUM!!! Wow, the bread was soft with a light crunch on the top. The cheese was perfectly melted and I believe there were sliced mushrooms on it too. The roast beef was juicy and tender, oh my just typing this out my mouth is watering! My chicken pesto was on ciabatta bread, a hefty amount of pesto brought it to life. Sliced chicken breast with sliced tomatoes and spinach. I can't wait to go back and try more of the sandwiches! Plus, they had fresh made items in the deli cooler. We walked back later that night and made our own 6 pack. Beers are individually priced and you will notice the signs in those sections. We each chose 3, my fiancé loves IPA's and me, well I enjoy wheat beers and cidre. A new fav spot that's close to home.

Great food. Service is always good. A little gem in north St Pete for gourmet deli food and fresh snacks! From desserts to coffees to wine and beer, this place has a lot to offer.

All around awesome experience. Food was fantastic, and I was pleasantly surprised with all of the variety. The ingredients were all fresh and delicious. I'll be back without a doubt.

I live within walking distance and decided to stop in and give this place a shot. I tried the roast beef sandwich with a side of mozzarella tortellini salad. Everything was so good and fresh! The roast beef might be the best I've ever had. The meat was so tender topped with Provolone, onion, and mushrooms. They also have misc grocery items and build your own six pack option. Super cute place.

Cute little deli & market with a wide variety of interesting foods, wine, and beer. The employees were friendly and helpful. We went for lunch, and the woman behind the counter recommended the chicken salad sandwich without hesitation over the Reuben. I wish I had gone with my initial instinct though, because the chicken was swimming in mayo, and seemed to have very little, if any, seasoning. Fortunately it was served on fresh bread, with a good tomato and fresh lettuce, and that helped to make it a decent sandwich. My companion loved his pressed mozzarella and tomato sandwich, and truth be told it looked much better than mine. I had a side of roasted Brussels sprouts, that the counter person helpfully heated for me, and they were pretty good. I love a place that tries to do interesting and unusual side dishes. All in all - good, but not great.

This is my new favorite sandwich spot. They make awesome sandwiches with the best and freshest ingredients. So tasty and they offer so much more than that. Drinks that you can't find anywhere else, house made salads and dinners to go like lasagna and meatloaf. Very unique side dishes and daily specials too. I'm in love and glad I live so close to this great little shop. They even have a seating area inside and out so that you can eat there or take it to go. I was very impressed and their prices are reasonable especially considering the quality ingredients and unique sides and meals offered. Must give it a try if you're nearby or it's on the way of your commute.

Delicious food, friendly atmosphere. I come here often as it is within walking distance from my house. The employees know my order by heart now and are always quick to strike up a conversation, followed by a thank you for my business.

Great place. Just a walk down the street from my house. Great beer and wine selection. The food was delicious, we had the smoked turkey club. The pasta salads and potato salads were yummy. A lot of side choices to get to go and take home to have with dinner. Cozy little dinning area, great place to relax and unwind. Will be back soon!

Good breakfast sandwiches and a few decent lunch options. Soups are overpriced and the chicken and black bean I tried was pretty terrible. Some staff are friendly; others not so much. Overall, JJs is a mixed bag that I wouldn't recommend.

This place is awesome! I been living in this area for about 7 months now and I just now found out about this little hidden Gem! Awesome deli sandwiches, I got the chicken pesto, and it was delicious. All organic natural meats and the place just has a cool hippyish vibe to it as well. Definitely worth a good lunch, I'll be back very soon!

Wow great fresh food made by people that really know food. Fresh, quality ingredients and reasonably priced makes this place stand out. Nice place with comfortable interior and really friendly staff. From a sandwich and a cold beer to really good take out options. If looking for fast food options this is not your place instead its really good food served fast,

Stopped in for lunch after reading yelp reviews- food was SO fresh!! I had edamame cranberry feta salad and a black bean salad because I couldn't decide between the two. My hubby had the Cuban sandwich. Everything was DELISH!!! Stop in, say hi to the friendly guys who work there and grab a bite!

The location is very convenient for me, since it is on the way to my apartment from Tampa, right off Gandy bridge. I can get home with a sandwich still fresh. Their sandwiches are pretty good. I loved their nicely pressed Italian loaf. The portion is not that much and a bit expensive. Little macaroni salad and sandwich came out over $11. Even tho I did not try, they have some healthy snacks and big beer selections.

Stopped here on our way to Weedon Preserve because of the ratings on Yelp. We were not disappointed! Kids loved all the food and drink choices (Oreo milk shake anyone?) sandwiches were great and the women that worked there were super friendly!

I love this place! I live nearby, and I'm sad that I'm moving soon, just because I won't be able to eat here practically every day. They do amazing, unique hot dinners monday through thursday. I think for 8.99. It's always enough for two meals for me. Entrees range from home style, to italian, to gourmet fusion type of dishes! They also have great, out of the ordinary snacks, cheeses, and dip options available in the market- always good when I'm hosting friends. Huge walk in fridge with good beer selection, and a nice wine selection, too! For lunch, you can't pass up the chicken pesto sandwich. The staff is so helpful (They once ran out of the pre-made caprese salad, I needed it for a party, and they made it for me right on the spot.) The ambience is somehow a blend of trendy, and homey all at once. Very convenient for tampa or st. pete. You can pick up hot food to go, pre-made dishes to cook at home, or sit in and dine off the menu, and have your food brought to you. Whenever my mom or sister come to stay, we end up eating here all weekend. You've got to give this place a try :)

Tried this place for the first time after seeing a sign for balsamic meatloaf...I love meatloaf and it can be hard finding a good one. The meatloaf was good...had a bit of a kick to it. I got the pumpkin soup as a side and it was wonderful! I loved the little store/deli...very cute, clean, and cozy.

Was bouncing between a 3 and 4 star. I kind of want to give it the benefit of the doubt, but in the end, I'm sticking with 3 since I can't do 3.5. My girlfriend just moved to the area and we wanted a quick bite without having to go to Subway or Publix. This place got great reviews, so we checked it out. I got a Cuban, she got a Mediterranean wrap. We both liked it, but they weren't the best we had. A-OK is a good description, but we're also a fan (hence the trouble with 3 or 4 stars). As a whole, this is a really cute market and worth checking out. Their deli makes everything fresh and while it isn't a huge menu, there are options and I'm looking forward to trying something else. I guess I'm sticking with 3 stars because while my Cuban was good, it was just good and I've had better. You won't go wrong stopping here; I'm just not sure you'll love it. Still, its a good option if you're sick of always having to go to Publix or Subway or Quiznos for a sandwich.

Atmosphere: Not that exciting, coupons and ads make this place look real "east coast" and homey. Not really. It's a little industrial and bare. They don't really sell much...and have a few bags of chips, wines, nuts, and a few random things..that are expensive!!! Food: sub-par, not worth the deli prices, boring, predictable, and quite honestly my homemade turkey sandwich is better when I'm in a rush to go to class. Turkey sandwich was so boring!!! No sauce or pickles, dry average deli turkey, 1 slice of tomato. I wasn't even asked what I wanted on it or anything! Mom got the chicken Cesar wrap...which looked like a lettuce filled wrap. It consisted of mostly lettuce, some tomatoes and scattered chicken chunks. Mom, who is also not a fan of sauce, still said they could've put a bit more dressing. Prepared food/deli food by the pound - looked so old and shriveled and SO EXPENSIVE! The lasagna, chicken, relishes, and salads either looked dry and shriveled as if they were from the day before, or totally soggy and watery. Service: rude, not warm, and pushy. I am indecisive, especially somewhere new. So I stood back away from the counter so I wouldn't hold up any lines, I took a total of maybe 10mins to decide. The blonde literally asked me 4 times "are you ready?!" Like are you serious?! Back up, go bake something! I'm not even in line or in anyones way!!! I even told her "I'm so indecisive" and she said "oh." Ummmm if someone says that you should offer some kind words or recommendations. Too bad this place sucked. My mom moved her from the north and was use to superb deli's. She definitely won't be bringing her business here anymore. 2 stars because the place was clean, and the food wasn't horrendous. Just boring. If they wanna charge you that much for a boring sandwich they better at least be friendly!

Love this little shop. Super unsuspecting from the outside, but it has outdoor tables, indoor seating, artisan foods/snacks/beer, and a great cafe menu. Their bagel chips are pretty addictive as well.

This is my first time here, so this review may update as I visit more often. It's a combination of a deli, a sandwich shop, a little marketplace, and beer&wine. A lot of the products you find here you can find at other stores for cheaper, however they do carry items not sold in most stores - for example, I've never seen baked green bean chips, onion chips, or carrot chips before, although from what I've read in other reviews they're readily available up in NY. I will definitely give some of these items a try. I had the balsamic chicken panini today, it was great! Tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I would love to try all of the sandwiches and dishes here, and I'll be taking my girlfriend here. Interior-wise, JJs is spaced out and nicely furnished. The atmosphere is pretty relaxing, and I think I could study here at some point. I will be back!

Drive by everyday on the way to work. Finally made it in for lunch and it was delicious! The interior is warm and clean. You order at a counter and can eat in at one of the tables inside or outside or take food to go. There is a deli case full of pasta salads, caprese salad, etc. I ordered a sandwich from the menu board: the Turkey Club. It was quite tasty! Nice sliced turkey breast with tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, crispy bacon, and ranch dressing on whole wheat bread. The bacon was to die for, none of the sad, limp bacon that places normally put on a sandwich. This was clearly made today and was perfect. The service was friendly and fast. Other menu items include: salads, paninis, deli sandwiches, and breakfast sandwiches The shop has lots of items that you can take home and wine/beer/cheese/etc. Great, cute, small businesses like this is what our community needs. Great places to get a fresh delicious sandwich are what we all need!

Really fresh ingredients and flavorful food. This is kind of an upscale deli and in addition to lots of sandwiches they have a variety of fresh pasta and veggie salads. I had the balsamic chicken sandwich. It had just the right amount of balsamic, not too overpowering, and cooked perfectly. I tried the edamame salad on the side and really enjoyed it. Mr. O had another chicken sandwich that I can't remember the name of, but it had fresh mozzarella and basil. He liked it but he LOVED the asparagus salad that he tried on the side. The staff was friendly and gave us helpful info since it was our first time here. Prices are kind of high so this would not be my every day lunch spot but it is nice for a treat. They Also have a large selection of natural juices and teas as well as unusual wines And beers you buy by the bottle.

I ordered a Cuban that I would describe as medium sized but the flavor combinations were out of this world! Also, an impressive beer selection!

Delicatessen, located across the dog track on Gandy, aims to do for on the go edibles and take home dinners that never disappoint . Peer around the clean corner space and you will find all sorts of pseudo-niche oddities. They have an assortment of Wines, beers and boutique style foods. Every now and then I will pick up dinner and they have creative and inspiring meals. Recently I had raisin wrapped Pork Tenderloin with a cucumber aioli and dill and lemon orzo. It was all fantastic. When i don't want to cook for myself I stop in here on the way home. The prices are more than reasonable!

After passing by this place multiple times on Gandy, my coworker and I finally decided to give it a try (and I'm glad we did!) I ended up with the Chicken Pesto on Ciabatta with some pretzel chips on the side. Let me tell you, the mozzarella, tomato and pesto in this sandwich was so fresh and full of flavor it honestly didn't even need the chicken. A+ from me! My friend is a vegetarian, so every time we go to lunch I make it a secret goal of mine to find something that she will really like, which is hard with the limited close to work options. She ended up with the Mozzarella Supreme (mozzarella, tomato, basil leaves and balsamic vinegar) as well as a cup of home made mushroom brie soup. She raved about both, saying it was almost exactly like a favorite deli of hers from up North. If I was a mushroom fan I would have tried that soup in an instant, it does sound pretty good! I think this will be a new regular lunch spot for us. I'm excited to try out more menu options. Other cool thing about this place is that on top of a small sandwich shop it is also a convenient store. So many chips, drinks, sides, even frozen meals to choose from. They also have a pretty decent beer and wine selection. I saw on my way out that Wednesdays is Italian night so might have to pick up some dinner tomorrow!

I love this place. We often go there for lunch on Friday's and it never disappoints. They have fresh and healthy options as well as great pasta salads and things of that nature. Very friendly and they have a good selection of beer, can't ask for much more.

  • N. Mary I.

Tasty food and friendly people. Service is very good. I would frequent that place more often if they would have vegan and vegetarian lunch and to go options. It would be nice if they sold fresh bread without preservatives, but their wine and beer selection is very refreshing. I love their salads also, but a vegan cannot live on salad alone

The shrimp dish was delicious. Double-baked potato was perfect. Deciding where to dine will no longer be an issue because the fresh ingredients will bring me back so i can try everything.

Finally tried this place out after driving passed it for years! We had the chicken salad sandwich, pea salad, reuben, and the steak gorgonzola pasta salad. Everything was fresh and tasty. Will definitely be back again to try other menu items! Great job JJ'S!!

Wanted to check out what the interpretation of a Deli is here in Fl. I have to say JJ's has executed a NY style Deli rather well. Menu items are typical deli fare with some variations as well. Beer selection is very good and seems to be changing often . I ordered the Cuban and I did enjoy it , the meat / cheese and bread ratio is above average. It wasn't the best Cuban I had but the charm of the establishment adds to the whole experience. I do like Dietz and Watson products however, I would've preferred to have Boar's Head option , they are a huge step up across the board. This place is valuable asset in an area dominated by fast food and supermarket options. I do like Publix deli but this place is a more of gourmet deli that offers more higher quality and delicious options that what makes a true Delicatessen is all about.

Quirky local market/deli right across from Derby Lane on Gandy Blvd. Mentally, I was comparing this to the neighborhood Italian delis I remember from the NYC suburbs, but that's unfair. That was there; this is here. For Florida's left coast, this is good stuff. The market is a largish space, with not much stuff in it. Various gourmet-type groceries: handy, but mostly available elsewhere for less. Some wines, fancy candies, Kahwa coffee, a few cheeses, etc. Not a good place for that type of shopping. But the take-out food is great, and the prices are reasonable. I tried a Reuben sandwich my first time: not Carnegie Deli fare, but better than others I've eaten around here. Tasty ingredients, well assembled, nicely cooked. They warned me that it wouldn't travel well, which was good advice (soggy after too long). Last night, we tried the Italian dinners: one lasagna, one chicken Alfredo. Decent-sized portions, reasonable price, and they include some garlic toast and a simple garden salad. They also have some unusual and very tasty deli salads. I agree with Geno K. that this is not life-changing, but definitely better than the chains. I recommend that you try this place at least once or twice- you may get hooked. I plan to return to taste the lemon chicken one night soon...

Love this place. Extremely fresh sandwiches, I had the Italian and it was yummy, the bread was very fresh. Also, tried the Asparagus salad and it rocked. Lots of to go micro brew beers as well. Definitely try this place!

Was looking for a place that was open on a sunday, and found this deli. It is mostly for take out as there is very limited seating. But being a Sunday it was not crowded. There was a nice selection in the deli case, all fresh and homemade. There is also a fair selection of craft beer. I had a Cuban,my wife had a reuben, and my daughter had the tuna salad. The cuban was excellent and very authentic. The tuna and reuben were also above average. This place is a winner.

Had the Italian sandwich for lunch today. Good stuff. Not life changing, but far better than the chains in the area like Firehouse and Subway. Nice small selection of organic and locally made stuff too was a nice touch. Will definitely be back.

Love this place and it continues to get better and better. Great lunches, always interesting side dishes, and the beer selection is always consistent in that they seem to always have some new featured brews that are great. I have only brought home dinner from there 1-2X (meatloaf was awesome, btw), but their quality didn't diminish from lunch. The big surprise for me is their catering capabilities. I have used them at my company for at least 20 meals including a mix of lunch and breakfasts and they are really good. Jody will work with you on customizing and coming up with creative options so that it isn't the 'same old thing' time and time again. Our groups have been as little as 10 people to as many as 30 - and the food, setup, and delivery has been perfect. Only reason that I didn't put 5 stars is that I think with age, this place continues to improve and i need a star to add later - I hope.

Cute little neighborhood market. The deli is delicious and they are always making something new for dinner every night. They also have a variety of essential grocery items (milk, eggs, bread, etc) which makes it very conveinant as there is not a grocery store super close to that area.

    (5)
  • Al P.

Great little market and deli. They make their own soups (example mushroom brie, cream of asparagus, pumpkin bisque) and foods to take out and I would classify as almost gourmet. Also nice selection of wine, St Petersburg Bagels, and specialty foods. The Deli features Dietz & Watson meats that do not have all the MSG, extenders, antibiotics, and growth hormones found in most American meats. They have tables outside however we have always taken food home. They have wine tastings on Thursday nights. They also serve breakfast sandwiches on bagels but we have never tried them. JJ's really need a web site. They are owned by Kaunas bar next door which is a big surprise as no comparison in their foods.
